Gold price per Ounce or Gram
To the right you will find our chart which is update every minute with the Spot Gold Price. This price is in USD, which in current times is about 30% lower than the CAD price due to exchange rates.
When looking at gold and silver prices you can often find them listed as such

- Silver price per ounce
- Gold price per ounce
- Gold price per gram
In saying this there are a couple of ways to figure them out without having to search for an answer online. For example if you are looking to find out what the spot gold price is, check the chart to the right, currently the price of gold is 1079.7 USD. If you are interested in finding out the gold price per gram there is a simple method to do so. An ounce of gold is not soley the 28 grams you would expect, rather it's a troy ounce which weighs in at 31.1034768 g . A troy ounce is often used to measure precious metals.
So we are still looking for the price per gram of gold, often prospectors aren't dealing in ounces of gold at a time so here is how you figure it out!
A troy ounce of gold = 31.1034768 g
The price of gold per ounce is $1079.7 USD
From there we take 1079.7 and divide that buy 31.1
- 1079.7/31.1 = $34.72 per gram.
So using the simple calculation above we have shown that finding gold price per gram is relatively simple and changes just as frequently as the gold price per ounce does!
